In Honor of Bob Madison

A special social event to visit and enjoy the spirit of the Holiday Season! In honor of Bob Madison, who proposed this event earlier this year, for us to gather and celebrate. We’ll experience the Honolulu City Lights displays from downtown to Thomas Square, followed by a jaunt through Waikiki to see the sights and spread holiday cheer.

Saturday December 27th, we’ll gather starting at 5:00pm. Trolley ride starts at 6:00pm. Open to Lima Kokua members and their guests . $35.00 per person, includes pre-ride refreshments!

Foodland’s Matching Gift Program

Provide your gift to Lima Kokua by either:

• While checking out at any Foodland, Sack N Save, or Foodland Farms location provide your Maika’i card or phone number, and inform the cashier you would like to donate to Lima Kokua with the code 77370. You can donate any amount up to $249.
• You can also use 250 Maika’i points to make a $5 donation.

Foodland will match a portion of every donation. The program runs from September 1st – 30th.

Foodland does not provide us donors’ names. To notify us of your gift and receive a tax receipt please keep and provide us a copy of your store receipt, which includes the details of your donation.

Through the years, with help from our members and Outreach Committee, Lima Kōkua has lent a helping hand to small 501(c)3 nonprofit charity organizations that are under funded, under appreciated, and/or under served. Our mission remains unchanged: to help improve the lives of those less fortunate in Hawaii.

Over the past decade we have updated our bylaws to align with current Hawaii statutes and regulations, formed and improved new internal committees, and partnered with the Hawaii Community Foundation to establish and administer the Lima Kōkua Scholarship Program – awarded yearly to qualified applicants.

Thus far in 2025 we have aided these local 501(c)3 nonprofit charity organizations with donations:

• Family Promise Hawaii: Addressing family homelessness & using local resources to house and empower families towards economic stability.
• Touch A Heart: Supporting meal programs for Kupuna & others in need. In addition they provide vocational training in a healing and nurturing environment to empower and transform formerly incarcerated individuals back into society to achieve a sustainable future.
• Camp Anuenue: Yearly summer camp for local cancer children, run by unpaid volunteers including medical staff, camp counselors, and others.
• Hawaii Foodbank: Vital assistance with the food needs of Hawaii residents statewide.
• Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) – 2025 Honolulu AIDS Walk: Lima Kōkua participated again in this yearly walk to support HHHRC’s direct services for Hawaii individuals living with HIV as well as prevention services to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.
• Kuma Kahua Theatre: Local theatre supporting and showcasing local playwrights and plays.

In 2024 we also supported Family Promise Hawaii, Touch A Heart, Camp Anuenue, and HHHRC. Additionally in 2024 we provided donations to:

• RIP Medical Debt: A successful partnered online campaign to eliminate $3,508,108.80 of 2023 medical debt for 5,055 families across all islands in Hawaii.
• Maui Foodbank: A directed monetary donation assisting the needs of the Lahaina and Kula residents affected by the 2023 wildfires.
• Spill The Tea Café: Adolescent mental health and substance abuse counseling for all adolescent children. This center is a safe space for at-risk adolescents, especially LGBTQ+ children.
